Place of Origin
Tahitian chestnut is indigenous to many South Pacific
countries (from Java in the west to the Marquesas in the
east). It is found in Melanesian countries (the Solomon
Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea) where it is
believed to be indigenous.

Actual Distribution
In parts of Polynesia (Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, and French Polynesia) and Micronesia (Pohnpei, Marshall Islands, and Kiribati), the species is believed to be an aboriginal introduction.
