RUAF Foundation

Summary

The RUAF Foundation aims to contribute to urban poverty reduction, employment generation and food security and to stimulate participatory city governance and improved urban environmental management. To accomplish this, the various regional partners in the RUAF network aim to:

• create enabling conditions for empowerment of male and female urban and peri-urban farmers;
• facilitate the integration of urban agriculture in policies and action programs of local governments, civic society organizations and private enterprises with active involvement of the urban farmers, livestock keepers and other relevant stakeholders.

The RUAF website is a critical resource for obtaining information on urban agriculture, providing:

• extensive information on upcoming events
• relevant (online) publications
• a searchable annotated bibliography
• a searchable Bibliographic Database
• proceedings of RUAF events (such as their e-conferences)
• an online version of the enlightening Urban Agriculture Magazine
